Our beautifully crafted shepherd’s hut, newly completed in January 2026, offers a cosy and comfortable base to relax, recharge, and reconnect with the natural world.

Set within open fields where our horses, alpacas, and Herdwick sheep quietly graze, the retreat is surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. This is a place where wildlife thrives. You may catch a glimpse of deer moving across the landscape, hear the call of buzzards overhead, watch swallows swooping through the evening air, or listen for the gentle hoot of an owl as dusk falls.

For bird lovers, Slowhayes is a delight throughout the seasons, offering the chance to observe a variety of species in a peaceful, unspoilt setting. Whether you’re an avid watcher or simply enjoy the calming presence of birdsong, you’ll find nature is never far away.

Beyond the retreat, the New Forest offers endless opportunities to explore. Wander through ancient woodland, spot the famous free-roaming ponies, discover quiet trails, and visit charming villages and cosy pubs. This is the perfect base to explore the magic of the New Forest, peaceful woodland walks, see the New Forest ponies, cosy pubs, local beaches, all just a short drive away.  Nearby attractions include The National Motor Museum in picturesque Beaulieu, The New Forest Show in July (check the dates). is just a short drive away.  The Lyndhurst Museum and visitors centre in Lyndhurst is worth a visit to get some fascinating facts on the history of the New Forest.   So many other charming New Forest villages. to visit.  So whether you want to take it easy or go kayaking or cycling, everything is nearby ensuring there is something to suit everyone when you stay at Slowhayes Nature Retreat.
